RumorsDinner Theatre at the ACT!
America's premier comic playwright delights audiences with this out and
out funny offering. Four couples are at the townhouse of a deputy New
York City mayor and his wife to celebrate their tenth wedding
anniversary. The party never begins because the host has shot himself
in the head (it's only a flesh wound) and his wife is missing. His
lawyer's cover story gets progressively more difficult to sustain as
the other guests arrive and nobody can remember who has been told what
about whom. Doors slam and hilarity abounds as the couples get more and
more crazed. Rumors is a divine, crowd pleasing farce!

Director's Message

Years ago, I sat in my living room with a script that I bought on a whim. I opened it up and started to read and in no time, I was bouncing off on a rollercoaster of laughter that left my ribs aching. Neil Simon trapped me in his little farce and when it was over I read it again. I knew instantly that I had to bring it to life for an audience. The journey that brings it to you has been full of unbelievable people. From the actors that have spent hours, risking and contributing parts of themselves to the art of theatre; to the over-worked and resourceful crew that gave up so much of their lives to provide the canvas you see before you. I am honoured and forever grateful for each and every one who stepped up to collaborate on this spectacular event. I am moved. And many thanks to you, the audience, who came out to share in our journey. I hope you love it too!

Producer's Message

In her producing debut, Jennifer enjoys the spontaneous adventures, chronic challenges, and brilliant mentorship as the show comes together. The role of producing puts a whole new spin on the theater experience; it really takes a whole village to pull a performance together, and is often like trying to pin jello to the wall. Quoting one of her production mentors & teammates she says, “it’s like ‘herding cats’”. She is extremely proud of the cast & crew for their hard work and dedication to the show. After innumerable hours of rehearsals, set building, costume designing and a multitude of other jobs too infi nite to mention, we are excited to present to you the Emerald Pig Production of Rumors, by Neil Simon! I hope you enjoy the show and have as much fun watching it as we have had bringing it to you!
